Yes quidditch, the game created in the world well known saga Harry Potter, has been brought into real life in 2005 at the university of Middlebury. That is what we call muggle quidditch, as a muggle is what non-magical people are called in the saga. Of course, the players don't fly! But a broom (more often a mere stick) is used to symbolize the action of flying. At the same time, the broom represents a disadvantage for the players who have to show all the more skills in order to play with only one hand. In order to make this sport possible the rules have been adapted from the books and are slightly different :
The balls :
- The quaffle: This is the ball we use to score by throwing it through the loops. It is a volley ball slightly deflated so one can catch it with one hand.
- The bludgers: There are three bludgers on the pitch. They are used to eliminate players.
- The snitch: It is a tenis ball in a yellow sock at the back of a runner. The player who catches it puts an end to the game and wins thirty point for his or her team. The snitch is allowed forty seconds before the beginning of the game to run and hide. He has absolutely every rights. He only has to be back on the pitch after a time that has been chosen by the referee and has to stay. If the snitch fall on the ground, he is allowed three seconds free from the seekers in order to get back on his feet.

Les joueurs
A team can have 21 players at the most, but there are always only seven players from each team at a time on the pitch.
- Three chasers: They play with the quaffle in order to score into one of the three loops. Each time a player scores, the team has ten points. The players can scores forwards or backwards.
- The keeper : He protects the loops and also plays the same part as a chaser. He has the immunity against the bludgers when he is in his zone, but outside of it, he is considered as a mere chaser.
- Two beaters: They play only with the bludgers. They can eliminate any player.
- The seeker: It is the player who must catch the snitch.
The players can change positions during a game, but in a special way : the player must be out of the playing ground in order to exchange his position with another player's. The positions are defined by heandbands (white for the chasers, black for the beaters, green for the keeper and yellow for the seeker).

The set of goals
The set of goals is made of three loops of a same size but of different height (90cm, 1m40, 1m90). They are in a line, and at a meter from each other. But they are all worth ten points.
Some rules :

- A player can be KO for only two reasons :
Any player that has been knocked out has to go touch his set of goal in order to be able to play again.
